Value China as a bridge for Italy China cooperation and development

Value China, part of the Neosperience S.p.A. group, took part in an institutional and industrial mission across the main innovation hubs of Shanghai and Wuxi. The program explored advanced robotics, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, big data and the low‑altitude economy, with the goal of strengthening synergies between China’s technological ecosystem and the Italian and European industrial landscape.

The mission offered a close-up look at the sectors driving China’s new phase of technological development, increasingly oriented toward innovation, advanced manufacturing and international openness.

The robotics hubs of Shanghai

Shanghai is one of the world’s most advanced ecosystems for both service and industrial robotics, supported by a municipal plan aiming to exceed 20 billion RMB in industrial output by 2027 (source: Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization).

In this context, the delegation met leading companies such as Siasun Robotics and Keenon Robotics, key players in the new generation of robotics applied to logistics, manufacturing and intelligent services. Alongside major industry leaders, the vitality of the startup ecosystem also emerged clearly, with companies like Magic Lab developing high‑scalability robotic solutions and AI‑driven applications.

Siasun Robotics is one of China’s main industrial robotics companies, offering solutions ranging from collaborative robots to AGV/AMR systems for smart factories.

Keenon Robotics, with more than 60,000 robots deployed worldwide, is today among the global leaders in service robotics, with applications in hospitality, retail and healthcare.

Magic Lab represents the new wave of deep‑tech enterprises focused on rapid experimentation and the integration of advanced AI models into real‑world scenarios.

The discussions highlighted how China is accelerating its transition toward autonomous robotics, AI‑driven integration and large‑scale applications, thanks to an ecosystem that combines:

  • speed of experimentation,

  • integrated manufacturing supply chains,

  • public and private investment in R&D,

  • a strong orientation toward internationalization.

Chips, Cloud and Big Data: Wuxi’s Technological Edge

Wuxi, located within the Liangxi Science and Technology City, is today one of China’s most dynamic hubs for cloud computing, big data and semiconductors. The city hosts more than 3,000 high‑tech companies and recorded a 12% growth in the digital sector in 2023 (source: Wuxi Municipal Government).

1. Next‑generation chipsets and semiconductors

Wuxi is home to major clusters dedicated to integrated circuits, with investments exceeding 100 billion RMB over the past five years. Among the technologies observed:

  • advanced chipsets for edge computing

  • integrated solutions for smart manufacturing

  • components developed by players such as Huawei for AI and IoT applications

2. Cloud computing and AI models

The visit to the Baidu Intelligent Cloud – Qianfan Large Model development center offered insights into the evolution of Chinese generative models, now used in smart cities, intelligent manufacturing, public services and industrial automation.

The Qianfan Model Hub is one of the country’s most advanced cloud ecosystems, with more than 200 AI models available for enterprise applications.

3. Brain‑Computer Interface (BCI)

Liangxi Science and Technology City also hosts innovation centers dedicated to brain‑computer interfaces, a field in which China is investing heavily, with applications ranging from medical rehabilitation to assistive robotics.

This visit confirmed how Wuxi is emerging as a strategic hub for the convergence of AI, cloud technologies, semiconductors and industrial applications — an area where collaboration with Europe can generate strong mutual value.

Low‑altitude economy and drones: the new frontier of urban mobility

The low‑altitude economy is emerging as one of the most promising sectors in contemporary China. In 2023, the Chinese government designated it as one of the country’s “new strategic industries”, with a market already exceeding 500 billion RMB and projected to reach 2 trillion RMB by 2030 (source: MIIT).

Wuxi is among the national pilot cities for the development of drone‑based and low‑altitude mobility services, with applications that are already reshaping daily life:

  • urban logistics with last‑mile drone deliveries,

  • environmental and infrastructure monitoring,

  • automated industrial inspections,

  • emergency response and first‑aid services,

  • urban air mobility (UAM) in collaboration with companies such as EHang

The low‑altitude economy stands out as one of the most compelling frontiers for international cooperation, driven by the convergence of advanced technologies, experimental regulatory frameworks and real‑world application scenarios.

Xiyue SPACE: dialogue between institutions and enterprises

Cooperazione Cina Italia

The mission reached its key moment at Xiyue SPACE in Wuxi, where the Italian delegation met with local institutions and a selected group of companies operating in robotics, digital intelligence and emerging technologies. The meeting enabled a structured dialogue on opportunities for industrial cooperation and on potential pathways for internationalization toward Europe.

The roundtable highlighted the strong complementarity between the two ecosystems:

  • China’s rapid pace of development and experimentation,

  • Europe’s manufacturing strength and industrial specialization.

Participating companies expressed interest in technological partnerships, co‑development initiatives and access to European markets, areas in which Value China and Neosperience act as a strategic bridge.

As noted by Luca Qiu, CEO of Value China:

“The level of the stakeholders involved and the quality of the exchange confirm the strong interest in building a more structured collaboration between the Chinese and European technological ecosystems. Our goal is to translate this dialogue into concrete opportunities for companies, regions and technology partners, fostering relationships grounded in real industrial content and a shared long‑term vision.”
